Fairness Doctrine
A Tissue And A Pat On The Head

Home ]

Everyone gets a chance to show his or her talents.  This doctrine treats the "handicap" in a different way,
it allows ANY player to play right along with the "big boys" without having to feel inferior.

In the standard game, there is a handicap that is supposed to even the score...sort of.
This fairness doctrine equalizes the FEELINGS of the individual players.  No longer will
the victimized player feel bad.  The best players will be OBLIGATED to congratulate the
victims.

This doctrine is simple: in order to make this new game of golf FAIR, we'll level the playing field so everyone has a chance.  We have to go BEYOND the traditional point score handicap.  We need to equalize the FEELINGS of each player.

By bringing the feelings of the handicapped player to the fore, we  eliminate "elitism" and smugness of the player or players who happened to get lucky on that particular shot or that particular day.

The theory behind this radical change is that all the players innately have the talent to play well.  They may  not have had the time to practice so they were actually prevented from proving themselves.  Or, they may have simply been victims of an unfortunate lie which hurt their chances to manifest their true talent.

So, they will all get the chance to show how good they really are!.  This is equality in the face of diversity.  No one can deny that this improved rule will build self-esteem, not destroy it.
